Tanguear: the Social Network for Tango Dancers, Built by Shine Software
Tanguear, the tango community's social network, is proof of how we deliver digital products: an iPhone and Android app from a single codebase, the platform behind it, gated releases and day-to-day operation — one team, from idea to the stores.

Tanguear is the social network for the international tango community — and, for Shine Software, the proof of how we deliver digital products: a complete mobile platform designed, built, published and operated entirely by our team, live today on the App Store and Google Play.
A real product, not a demo
Tanguear is a full social platform serving an international community: member profiles, an interactive world map of events, bookings with QR check-in at the door, shared photo albums, realtime updates and privacy rules the user controls — available in English, Italian and Spanish from day one.
It is the kind of project most agencies only show in mockups. We took it from idea to the app stores, and we run it in production every day. That difference — shipping and operating, not just prototyping — is exactly what you should demand from a technology partner.
One project, one team, both platforms
The app runs natively on iPhone and Android from a single shared codebase. For a client, this is the single biggest lever on budget: one team, one project plan and one release cycle instead of two — roughly half the development and maintenance cost of building each platform separately, with no compromise on speed or user experience.
Behind the app, our platform handles accounts, events, bookings, payments, notifications and media at scale. Everything users see — the map that updates live, the QR code scanned at the entrance, the push notification about tonight's event — is powered by infrastructure we designed, secured and operate ourselves.
Quality you can measure, releases you can trust
Every feature we ship goes through automated quality gates: layers of automated tests run on every single change, and nothing reaches users until a staging environment fully approves it. App updates follow a controlled release process on both stores, and once live, monitoring tells us how every release behaves — often before users notice anything at all.
This is what keeps a product stable while it grows: new features every month, without regressions and without downtime.
The effort behind version 1.3.0
Numbers say more than adjectives. Reaching the current release, version 1.3.0, took three years of continuous engineering — and every step of it is tracked:
- Over 11,000 tracked development changes across the app and the platform behind it.
- Over 600,000 lines of code written by our team, covering 84 app screens.
- Over 6,500 automated tests guarding every release.
- Over 300 documented API services connecting the app to the platform, each covered by a formal contract.
- Over 300 evolutions of the data model, applied without service interruptions.
- Over 60 controlled builds distributed to the stores, up to the current 1.3.0.
Behind these numbers there is not a list of names but a set of senior skills the project demanded — product and UX design, cross-platform mobile engineering, platform and API architecture, test automation, security and privacy by design, release management and day-to-day operations. It is the same combination of competences we bring to every client project.

What this means for your project
Tanguear shows the full cycle we deliver as a partner: product and UX design, development for iPhone and Android, the platform behind it, publishing on the stores and day-to-day operation — one team, one point of responsibility, end to end. The same approach applies directly to marketplaces, booking systems, loyalty and community platforms, and companion apps for existing businesses.
If you want to put numbers on a project like this, we broke down costs and phases in our mobile app cost guide.
